Godamnit I can do it!

To be honest, I still think this whole 3D thing is slightly overrated but that’s not to say that I wasn’t, at some points, completely engrossed in this film. In fact I kind of really liked it for the most part.  You’ve got to admit that James Cameron, Titanic apart, makes a decent sci-fi flick. (You don’t have to pay attention the themes of race in this)

It still nags at me that unfortunately this film suffers from being way too long with some pretty poor dialogue thrown in, a la Sully’s monologue on how “I’ve got to take this to the next level”. Whoa, this film has been in development for a decade and that’s the best they could come up with? Boo. And what was up with the creature design? All right, yes I see, that’s a horse (or a rhino, or panther) with an extra two eyes and legs. Imaginative stuff. And don’t start me on the way them bad humans are after the precious ore ‘unobtanium’.

Still, it made me wish I’d seen the Alice in Wonderland trailers to see what Tim Burton has managed to pull off with the floating head of the Cheshire Cat. Imax, fuck yeah.
